Central Theme of Surah Humazah PDF

Surah Al Humazah Verse 1

“Woe to every backbiter, slanderer”

In the first verse of the surah Al-Humazah pdf, Allah shows deep sorrow and distress over the person who is a backbiter. Backbiting is a perilous social evil that quickly distances the hearts of even blood relations. Allah shows deep sorrow over the backbiter, so we should understand from this that we should avoid backbiting.

Surah Al Humazah Verse 2

“Who amasses wealth ˹greedily˺ and counts it ˹repeatedly.”

The context of the 2nd verse of the surah Al-Humazah pdf is connected with the context of its first verse. Allah shows deep sorrow and distress over a person who backbites, collects wealth, and counts it repeatedly. A similar statement is in the Holy Quran as

“And collect (wealth) and hide it.”Quran, 70:18

Surah Al Humazah Verse 3

The 3rd verse of the surah Al Humazah PDF demonstrates the attitude of the disbelievers and greedy people who collect wealth their whole life. Allah says these greedy people think their wealth will make them immortal and they could live for an infinite time in this abode.

But this thinking of the disbelievers is a lie, as having colossal wealth can’t make anyone immortal. Life and death are in the hand of Allah, and no one can live more than Allah has decided.

Allah says in Holy Quran,

“And spend [in the way of Allah ] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, ‘My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous.’ But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.”Quran, 63:10-11

Surah Al Humazah Verse 4

Not at all! Such a person will certainly be tossed into the Crusher.

In the 4th verse of Al-Humazah, Allah denies the claim of the disbelievers that collecting a massive amount of wealth would make them immortal in this temporary world. Allah strongly condemns such people by saying that these hopes are false and they will find nothing by gathering wealth.

Instead of this, they will be thrown into hellfire, where they will live forever and wouldn’t be able to find an escape. They would be tormented because of their greed and wrongdoings.

Surah Al Humazah Verse 5-6

“And what will make you realize what the Crusher is?”

“˹It is˺ Allah’s kindled Fire.”

The 5th and 6th verses of the surah Al-Humazah pdf are connected. In the 5th verse, Allah questions the disbelievers about what makes them realize what is “Al-Hutamah?”, He replies then Himself in the next verse that it is the fire of hell from Allah. Disbelievers will be exposed and burned into it. It will burn them to their hearts while they are still alive. Disbelievers can’t escape the torment; this is the final thing Allah has decided for them.

Allah says the same thing in another place in Holy Quran as

“Whenever their skins are burnt out, We shall give them other skins in their place, so that they may taste the punishment”Surah Al-Nisaa‘, verse no. 56.”

Surah Al Humazah Verses 7-9

“which rages over the hearts.”

“It will be sealed over them.”

“tightly secured˺ with long braces.”

After understanding the context of these three verses of the surah Al-Huamzah pdf, one can get horrified as these verses explain the torment of hell which will be imposed upon the disgraced people.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

“Hell had been lit for one thousand years until its fire became red. Then it was lit for another thousand years until its fire turned white. Then it was lit for another one thousand years, and its fire became black. Therefore, as of now, Hell is a dark valley” (Tirmidhi, Ibne Maajah).

These verses say that the fire of hell will burn these people to their hearts, there will be chains over their necks, and gates of hell will be shut upon them. The doom of hell is extremely painful, and no one would have the courage to bear it.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

“The person who will receive the mildest punishment in Hell will be made to wear shoes and laces of fire, due to which his brain will boil the way a pot on fire does. That person will be under the impression that he is subjected to the severest punishment though he would be the mildest”
